A native of Spain, Cristobal Gabarron is a leader of his country's avant-garde art movement. He lives with his wife, 5 children and 12 dogs in a mansion near the Pisuerga river, that houses his vast collections of antiques, jewels, books, art and music. His atelier was created to teach and demonstrate his methods of painting to eager, young disciples and is a favorite meeting place for esoteric exchange between artists and intellectuals.
With two decades of exhibitions in Africa, Europe, the Far East, South America and the United States, Gabarron's paintings are in many important private collections around the world, including that of H.E. Sr. Jaime de Pinies, the current President of the United Nations General Assembly. His works are on permanent exhibition in Nairobi, Kenya at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme. Gabarron's "Construction in the Woods -- Project for a City" may be the longest mural painting in the world, extending 350 feet along the outskirts of Valladolid, Spain. For Gabarron, "a painting must be the communicative visualization of an expressed experience," therefore he paints in "the color of feelings."
